Amazon AMZN is reportedly exploring a new financing structure that could move roughly $8 billion of Nvidia 
NVDA chips into a special-purpose vehicle funded by outside investors. The move would let Amazon keep using the hardware while reducing the balance-sheet burden of its rapidly expanding AI infrastructure spending.
According to the Financial Times, Amazon has held talks with investors in recent weeks about transferring thousands of Nvidia Grace Blackwell chips spread across more than a dozen U.S. data centers into the new vehicle.
The special-purpose structure could issue debt and sell up to a 10% equity stake to external investors, according to the report.
Amazon would continue using the chips even after moving them into the vehicle, effectively creating a more asset-light financing model for part of its AI infrastructure.
