U.S. court overturns Amazon’s injunction against Perplexity’s AI agent.
A U.S. appeals court has overturned an injunction that prevented Perplexity from using its AI agent Comet for shopping on Amazon. The court ruled that actions are performed by the user through their assistant, not by Perplexity itself, thus insufficient grounds for a preliminary injunction.
The decision is considered the first at the federal appellate level regarding the use of AI agents with web services. The legal dispute between Amazon and Perplexity continues.
