Industry leaders believe AI technology can revolutionize the media and advertising ecosystem, but urge caution against talent, especially younger talent, relying too heavily on machines.
They encourage companies to use AI technology, particularly to eliminate operational friction, engage in contextual targeting and deliver performance at scale, but note that human oversight is essential.
These were some of the key messages from a thought-provoking panel discussion at the recent Kargo Insights and Bites event, which included Joe Lanzerotti, senior director of media strategy at Kargo Global, Gai Le Roy, CEO of IAB Australia, Kellyn Coetzee, head of digital at Zenith, and Alex Taylor, head of media at HCF.
Panelists largely agreed on where AI is useful, even if it is somewhat overrated, and where it could have a detrimental impact on the industry – an issue that is difficult for agencies, marketers and media owners to grapple with.
