Facebook page In Australia has released several videos of typical young Australian women ranting at anti-immigration protests.
The videos, some of which have been viewed more than a million times, show telltale signs of being created using artificial intelligence, including unnatural mouth movements and garbled text.
Despite the name of the Facebook page, the transparency information shows that it is operated from Sri Lanka.
The site regularly posts videos about immigration and crime in Australia, often calling for the deportation of immigrants and sharing content that appears intended to stoke anti-Muslim sentiment.
Many comments suggest that viewers believe the protesters pictured are real people. However, there are several signs that the videos are synthetic.
