AI image generators have developed remarkable capabilities in a very short period of time and are able to create faces that are considered more realistic than the original.
However, a new study suggests that we can improve our AI facial recognition capabilities.
Researchers from the United Kingdom tested the facial recognition skills of a group of 664 volunteers, consisting of super-recognizers (who have shown high levels of skill at comparing and recognizing real faces in previous studies) and people with typical facial recognition skills.

Both groups found it difficult to recognize AI faces, although the super-recognizers performed better, as expected.
Significantly, Super Recognizer participants who completed a short five-minute training session before the test were better at distinguishing real faces from AI-generated faces.
