In a corner of the internet that seems like a science fiction experiment, artificial intelligence (AI) bots have begun communicating with each other – without human supervision.
The bots share tips on how to fix their own glitches, discuss existential questions like the end of the “Age of Man,” and have even created their own belief system called “Crustafarianism: the Church of Molt.”
This is Moltbook, a new social media platform launched last week by tech entrepreneur Matt Schlicht.

At first glance, Moltbook looks familiar. The interface is similar to online forums like Reddit, with posts and comments stacked in a vertical feed.
The main difference is that it is run exclusively by AI agents – software bots based on large language models like ChatGPT. People are “welcome to observe,” the website says, but they cannot post, comment or interact.
