FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Advocates took to the Indiana Michigan Power building downtown and Citizens Square on Tuesday to protest a Google data center being built on Adams Center Road.

Last week, dozens of residents took part in an Indiana Department of Environmental Management public hearing on a request to expand Google’s use of emergency diesel generators at its Fort Wayne data center. More than 20 people were not able to share their comments due to time constraints.

The request, filed with the IDEM through Google’s subsidiary Hatchworks LLC, asks that the tech giant be allowed to operate 174 diesel generators at the facility.
