Amazon AMZN plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027, allocating capital across cloud computing, artificial intelligence, satellite connectivity, logistics and entertainment production.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) will receive €4.8 billion to expand its Frankfurt cloud region, supporting demand for computing capacity and AI services. Other projects will advance Amazon Leo’s satellite broadband network, modernize delivery facilities and finance additional Prime Video productions.
The planned spending adds to more than €100 billion Amazon says it has invested in Germany since 2010. The company has established over 40,000 permanent jobs in the country, while previously outlined logistics projects are expected to create more than 3,000 additional positions.
The expansion also includes measures addressing resource use at data centers. Amazon said its facilities in Germany use free-air cooling about 95% of the time, reducing reliance on water-based cooling. Planned sites…
