NVIDIA is taking on Apple Silicon with RTX Spark, a new Windows on Arm platform built for demanding local AI workloads. Powered by the NVIDIA N1X processor, laptops such as Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra combine Blackwell RTX graphics, CUDA acceleration, and up to 128GB of unified memory, allowing users to run large AI models without relying on the cloud.
But Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro are already formidable competitors, offering powerful local AI performance through their unified-memory architecture and optimized MLX framework. With both platforms promising serious AI capabilities at premium prices, choosing the right laptop requires looking beyond specifications.
We compare independent local AI benchmarks, memory capacity, software compatibility, and pricing to determine whether NVIDIA RTX Spark or Apple’s latest MacBook Pro is the better investment. Our analysis draws on published testing rather than our own hands-on benchmarks.
NVIDIA RTX Spark N1X vs MacBook Pro — Specs and Prices
RTX Spark combines an Arm-based Grace CPU with Blackwell RTX graphics and NVIDIA’s CUDA ecosystem. The N1X comes in two versions, an 18-core CPU with 5,120 CUDA cores and a 20-core CPU with 6,144 CUDA cores.

There is an important distinction between their memory…
