Shares of Nvidia (NVDA) rose on Friday, touching a record $237.55 and pushing the chipmaker’s market value to roughly $5.7 trillion.
The stock moved beyond its previous intraday high of $235.54 after opening at $236.05. The latest advance keeps Nvidia at the center of investor demand for companies supplying artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Nvidia’s recent financial results provide a backdrop for the rally. Fiscal second-quarter revenue totaled $96.2 billion, up 106% from a year earlier, while Data Center revenue increased 117% to $89 billion. The company expects fiscal third-quarter revenue of about $108 billion.
Shareholder returns have also expanded. Nvidia returned about $26 billion through buybacks and dividends during the quarter, with around $99 billion still available under its repurchase authorization at the period’s end.
The record valuation arrives as investors weigh continued AI infrastructure spending against competition from rival chipmakers and the growing use of custom processors by large technology companies.
