Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) shares gained after Google unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its latest frontier AI model, while CEO Sundar Pichai drew unusual praise from President Donald Trump at a White House technology summit. The more consequential development for investors is Argon itself, which strengthens Google’s position against OpenAI and Anthropic in high-value enterprise AI workloads such as coding, finance, legal research and cybersecurity.
Trump called Pichai a monster during the September 29 White House gathering, using the term approvingly while addressing leading technology executives. The summit also included Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and executives from OpenAI and Anthropic.
The following day, Google DeepMind launched Gemini 4 Argon.
