Function Health now lets members feed lab results into ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, turning AI answers into ones grounded in biology.
Millions of people already type their symptoms into an AI chatbot before they type them into a search bar for a doctor’s office. It’s fast, free and available at 2 a.m. when the worry hits hardest. However, there’s always been a catch: the AI has no idea who you actually are. It’s answering from population averages, not from your bloodwork, your history or the note your doctor left after your last visit.
Function Health thinks it just fixed that, as the Austin-based health membership company has launched what it’s calling a secure health data connector, a tool that lets its members plug their own lab results and clinician-reviewed notes directly into the AI platforms they’re already using, including ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity [1]. In plain terms, the AI that answers your questions can now actually see your numbers.
Consider the moments this is built for. You’ve got a cardiology appointment coming up and a family history of heart attacks. Or a lab result just came back with a flagged marker, and your specialist appointment isn’t for three weeks. Or you’ve been exhausted for months and don’t know why.
