LaPorte Common Council expected to vote on second Microsoft data center land annexation

LAPORTE, Ind. (WSBT) — A big vote is expected Monday night in LaPorte.

The Common Council will decide whether to annex land to allow Microsoft to build a second data center in the city.

The land included nine properties located off Boyd Boulevard in Pleasant Township, with the main property running along Highway 35 south to County Road 250.

This annexation has been under discussion for nearly four years now, with some residents speaking out against another data center.

City officials say the move could bring economic development to the area.

Monday’s Common Council meeting starts at 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers.
