Washington | The Trump administration unveiled measures aimed at preventing Chinese developers from misusing leading American AI models to build a competing generation of chatbots. This marks the first major U.S. response to Silicon Valley companies’ complaints that China is exploiting their success.

In a memo, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy said it would encourage greater information sharing by U.S.-based developers and increase efforts to help the industry detect unauthorized extraction of its artificial intelligence models.
