Perplexity has launched a Personal Computer feature for Mac that allows the AI agent to work with local files and applications. The update is now available to Max subscribers.

Personal Computer is an extension of the Perplexity Computer feature that the company previously introduced as a workflow automation tool. The new version runs directly on the Mac and accesses the file system and native applications.

Activation occurs by pressing both Command keys. The system supports text and voice commands, can interact with open applications and suggest actions depending on the context.

An AI agent can perform tasks in the background, including processing to-do lists, sorting files, or comparing local documents with data from the Internet. It can use multiple models simultaneously to perform tasks, forming groups of agents.

Perplexity notes that the feature works on computers running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The company recommends using a Mac mini, which can run continuously and provides constant access to files and applications. You can manage tasks from your iPhone.
