Qantas is using artificial intelligence to improve operational reliability and not just to cut costs, its chief executive says, as a range of industries grapple with the impact of technological change.
As operating costs rise across the aviation sector, the national carrier is increasingly turning to AI to achieve efficiencies critical to maintaining profitability.
Vanessa Hudson highlighted the rise of technology at Qantas in her speech before tech firm Atlassian announced sweeping AI-related job cuts that shocked the industry and the public.
“We see so many use cases for AI to deliver better outcomes to customers, especially in moments when they are disrupted,” Hudson said.
