This year’s Coca-Cola Christmas advert, criticized as “soulless”, was created using generative AI. This may still feel new, but the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) found that 90 percent of advertisers plan to use AI tools to create their marketing videos by 2026.
This is not limited to one industry. In a recent show “Will AI Take My Job?” Channel 4 revealed that three quarters of British bosses in medicine, law and journalism have replaced human workers with AI. The program also highlighted the impact on the creative industries, where support teams (lighting, make-up, set design) became redundant. The show itself was the first to be hosted entirely by an AI host.
As Conservative MP Tom Stimmehat noted in September, AI has also reshaped parliamentary discourse; and could probably shape the legislation itself over time. Tugendhat pointed to research showing the use of certain phrases such as “I rise to speak” (more than 650 times this year) and “Glad to….”
