AI use in research offices widespread, global survey finds – Research Professional News

The RPN Research Offices of the Future survey also highlights concerns about impacts on research integrity

A major international survey by Research Professional News has found mixed views on artificial intelligence: A third of research office employees use AI for key funding tasks, while 60 percent see the technology as the biggest threat to research integrity.

RPN surveyed more than 1,100 employees at research offices around the world and found that the use of AI – and concern about its impact on research – is widespread.

More than a third of respondents (35 percent) said they use AI to find financing opportunities; 33 percent said they would turn to AI to process or improve grant applications, and 30 percent to manage data. Almost a quarter of respondents (24 percent) use AI to compile information for funding applications.
