In 2025, artificial intelligence experienced a transformative shift from scientific advance to practical economic force multiplier. As technological capabilities developed, the use of AI increased exponentially. Much of the discourse surrounding the new technology focuses on the major players and their political struggles. In geopolitical terms, China and the US view AI as a tool to transform their military capabilities and shape the international order. AI also defines great power rivalries and is increasingly embedded in the national security policies of large and small countries around the world. Emerging countries face a major challenge in dealing with artificial intelligence.
