Young artist from Highlands Ranch wins Colorado’s “Doodle for Google” contest

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Google and its “doodle for google” contest. The theme for this year’s contest was “My wish for the next 25 years,” and thousands of young artists submitted their entries. Angela Kalata, a 15-year-old freshman from Rock Canyon High School, was selected as the Colorado winner.

Angela has a passion for both art and the environment, and she has been picking up trash outside since she was little. For her doodle, Angela collected trash near her school and arranged it into the word “Google” in her garden. She believes that in the next 25 years, we will be able to phase out single-use plastics and transition to more biodegradable alternatives. She added plants and finishing touches digitally to show the transition from heavily contaminated plastics to biodegradable ones.

Angela has been participating in the doodle for google contest almost every year since first grade, and this year her doodle was chosen as the Colorado winner. She was excited when they made the announcement at her school in front of her friends. Now her doodle will compete with other state winners to be featured as the search engine logo for 24 hours.

In addition to having their doodle featured online, the national winner of the doodle for google contest will receive a $55,000 college scholarship, and their school will receive a $50,000 technology package. Five national finalists will receive $5,000 scholarships. Voting for the favorite doodle can be done before June 4th.

Overall, Angela’s doodle reflects her passion for the environment and her wish for a future with more sustainable practices. Her creativity and dedication to making a positive impact on the world through her art are commendable. The doodle for google contest continues to inspire young artists to use their talents to bring awareness to important issues and share their visions for a better future.
