You can do your Black Friday shopping on Newegg with AI chatbot Perplexity, thanks to new PayPal collaboration

We’re starting to see AI being utilized for online shopping experiences. The latest development is a partnership between Newegg and PayPal to integrate the latter’s Agentic Commerce Services for AI shopping. This recent announcement comes while Black Friday sales are in full swing. The day itself falls on November 28 this year, but many retailers have been running deals for around a week now – including Newegg.

You can now buy Newegg products directly through Perplexity.ai as a result of the new collaboration. We’ve previously seen PayPal strike a deal with OpenAI to integrate its payment services into ChatGPT, with plans to create an AI shopping assistant, so doing your online shopping directly through an AI chatbot may become your go-to method in the future.

Newegg’s Andrew Choi, Director of Brand and Website Experience, kindly provided a demonstration of this new feature below. Simply telling Perplexity that you want to buy an RTX 5080 will preview Newegg links, with the option to ‘Instant buy’. You are given a summary of the model of your choice, including reviews and features, and the option to purchase it directly through the AI search engine/chatbot. You don’t need to interact directly with Newegg’s website during this process.
