Xi touts China’s AI and chip profits in triumphant New Year’s speech

Beijing | President Xi Jinping highlighted China’s achievements in artificial intelligence and the chip industry in his triumphant New Year’s Eve speech and called for greater confidence in the country’s development path in the coming year.

“China has become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world in terms of innovation capability,” he said in a televised address to the country’s 1.4 billion people on Wednesday, touting China’s successes in large-scale AI models and breakthroughs in chip research and development.
