Using photos of fully clothed, real women, the Guardian was able to create short videos of people stripping down to bikinis. It was also possible to post this adult content to X’s public platform without any sign of moderation, allowing the clip to be viewed within seconds by anyone with an account.
It seemed like a simple solution to the restrictions Elon Musk’s social network announced this week. These were welcomed by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who described the photos taken by Grok as “disgusting” and “shameful”.
After weeks of increasing public concern, X said late Wednesday that it had “taken technical measures to prevent the Grok account from allowing the editing of images of real people in revealing clothing such as bikinis.”
