Windows 10: New Microsoft features revealed ahead of November 2019 Update release

Microsoft has released a new preview build for members of its Windows 10 fast-track insider programme. The latest build is called 19018 and is for Windows 10 version 20H1 (the first major Windows 10 upgrade of 2020).

Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 version brings nifty improvements to the operating system’s search bar. Users are now able to quickly navigate to weather, top news, today in history, and new movies from the page that displays whenever you start typing.

While these new quick searches don’t overhaul the search interface, they’ll certainly be appreciated by fans who want instant updates for the weather or movies playing locally for instance.

The latest Windows 10 preview build also introduces a couple of aesthetic tweaks to the web preview in search results. It also quashes a number of bugs within the operating system, too.

Windows 10 build 19018 is available for Insiders to download right now. While it’s certainly exciting, it’s not the update fans were waiting for…

Microsoft is expected to release its aptly-titled November 2019 Update later this month that’ll not only be available to all users, but it’ll introduce a swathe of more exciting features, too.

First and foremost, the upgrade is expected to improve the battery life of PCs powered by certain processors, something that’ll surely be invaluable if you work on the go.

One of the biggest new changes in the November 2019 Update comes to Windows Shell – the graphical interface that makes the computer operating system distinct. Users can now add an event to their Calendar using its fly-out menu rather than being forced to open it in its entirety.

File Explorer also comes with a revamped interface that’s not only more simple to use, but it’ll also let you sort through items stored locally and in the cloud, too.

Another huge change concerns virtual assistants on Windows 10. For those who don’t like using Cortana – Microsoft’s in-house chatty assistant – you can now object to use other third-party assistants like Amazon’s Alexa on your device’s lock screen.

Finally, the latest software will also eradicate numerous bugs that have nested themselves in the Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

So when will the November 2019 Update finally release? Well, it could arrive as soon as next week.

The reliable Zac Bowden, Senior Editor at Windows Central, has declared the Redmond firm is gearing up to release the Windows 10 upgrade on November 12.

If true, the update will coincide with Microsoft’s scheduled Patch Tuesday.

With that said, it is worth noting the American firm hasn’t officially confirmed this. But of course, will update you the moment the November 2019 Update lands.
