Will Apple give in to the triskaidekaphobics in its customer base?
If we don’t get an iPhone 13 this year, we will in 2022, right? Not so fast. Triskaidecaphobia, the fear of the number 13, is a real phobic condition that affects more people than you might think. When was the last time you saw a 13th floor in a hotel?
Skipping the iPhone 13 and switching straight to the iPhone 14 could be done by Apple to mark the new iPhone design that could appear by 2022 or 2023. TF International’s trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the look of the iPhone to change in 2023.
Of course, there is always the possibility that Apple will decide to name the 2021 or 2022 models as the iPhone 13 because most people do not allow their smartphone purchases to be controlled by superstition. The bottom line is that we’ll have to wait for Apple’s September event to see if we get the iPhone 13 or iPhone 12S name for this year. And if Apple chooses the latter, we’ll have to wait until September 2022 to find out if Apple will give in to the triskaidekaphobics among its believers.
