Apple released an emergency software patch after researchers uncovered a vulnerability that could allow hackers to stealthily install spyware on your Apple devices even if you don’t do anything and don’t even click a link.
The spyware can then eavesdrop or steal data from your device. All Apple operating systems, including those for iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches, are vulnerable.
The University of Toronto Citizen Lab said the “zero-click” bug allowed Pegasus spyware from Israeli hacking-for-hire company NSO Group to infect a Saudi activist’s iPhone by sending an image file through iMessage. The activist asked to remain anonymous.
