India has officially joined the United States’ premier international alliance on artificial intelligence (AI) supply chain security: Pax Silica. Officials from both countries signed the Pax Silica Declaration last week on the sidelines of a major AI summit in New Delhi.
The aim of this initiative is to bring together “allies and trusted partners” of the US to lead the global AI race. Australia was a founding member.
While Taiwan is expected to continue to dominate advanced AI chip manufacturing, it relies on a complex international supply chain, with crucial aspects dominated by China.
When essential elements come from a small group of suppliers, even minor disruptions can have a global impact. Diversity is important. That is why Australia and India now have the chance to become important international players.
