Generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) has evolved from a new technology to an everyday utility. From personal use to work to education, millions of people across Europe now rely on AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok.
Gen AI tools allow users to ask a question or request, such as plan a three-day trip for me, and can create new content such as text, images, code, videos or other data based on information and patterns learned from existing examples.
According to Eurostat, in the European Union in 2025, around a third of people aged 16 to 74 would use AI tools at least once.
However, the use of Gen AI varies widely across the continent. So which countries are most concerned with AI and why is adoption different across Europe?
Across 33 European countries, the proportion of use of genetic AI tools ranges from 17 percent in Turkey to 56 percent in Norway. Within the EU it varies between 18 percent in Romania and 48 percent in Denmark.
