What we know about Omnissa, the rebranded VMware EUC | TechTarget

Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware’s EUC division has been met with uncertainty over the past two years. After the deal was closed last fall, Broadcom announced its intention to divest the VMware EUC division, which was later sold to private equity firm KKR. The division has now been rebranded as Omnissa, with a focus on digital employee experience, security and compliance, unified endpoint management, and virtual desktops and applications.

Despite the rebranding, uncertainty remains surrounding Horizon licenses that include vSphere entitlements. Omnissa and Broadcom have entered into a reseller agreement to offer bundled versions of Horizon SKUs with vSphere Foundation for VDI, providing customers with similar entitlements as before. These developments have helped alleviate some of the concerns surrounding Horizon, but questions still linger about Workspace ONE’s future without the backing of VMware.

One of the pressing issues for Omnissa is rebuilding VMware’s channel after Broadcom ended the partner program and opted for an invitation-only approach. Partnership decisions made in the wake of Broadcom’s changes have left Omnissa with the task of repairing relationships and rebuilding the membership program. The integration of Horizon with vSphere and the transition to platform independence are also key concerns moving forward.

While Omnissa’s rebranding marks a step forward, there is still much work to be done in solidifying its position in the market. The company’s ability to maintain its leadership in the EUC market and rebuild its channel will be crucial in determining its success in the long run. Overall, the key takeaway is that Omnissa is now established as a new player in the EUC space, with a renewed focus on its core products and services.
