The Washington government issued $13 million in fines in just one month thanks to its new AI-powered traffic cameras.
The cameras have been in operation since the beginning of the year, but authorities only began issuing fines on October 8th.
The cameras are mobile and can photograph drivers from a higher angle, giving them a much better view of the driver’s activities behind the wheel.
Some of the worst behavior recorded between October 8 and November 8 included a truck driver driving along the Mitchell Freeway without his hands on the steering wheel and using his laptop and cell phone without wearing a seatbelt.
