What happens next when AI agents can serve people and companies?

We’ve heard a lot about people staying current, the prospect (or, for many, the specter) of job displacement, and the endless unanswered questions about how this powerful technology will impact our societies.

“According to most AI experts AGI is inevitable” write Cem Dilmegani and Sıla Ermut on November 9 about a survey that reportedly asked over 8,000 experts about this possibility. Most, the duo said, expect this to happen by 2040.

So if AGI comes, will it come to our jobs? Well, yes. And how does that work?

At a recent panel discussion at Stanford, I heard a number of people close to the industry talk about the likely outcomes of rapidly evolving AI. Most of this has been focused on India in particular, but the implications are more significant globally as we see humans becoming less and less “in the loop,” so to speak.
