America, you’ve said loud and clear: you don’t like AI.
A Pew Research Center survey released in September found that 50 percent of respondents were more worried than excited about AI; only 10 percent felt the opposite. Most people, 57 percent, said the societal risks were high, while only 25 percent said the benefits were high. In another survey it was only 2 percent – 2 percent! – of respondents said they fully trust AI’s ability to make fair and unbiased decisions, while 60 percent somewhat or completely distrusted it. Oppose the development of AI and say “Stop!” call. is quickly becoming one of the most popular positions on both ends of the political spectrum.
Except that Americans actually use AI all the timethese fears are understandable. We hear that AI is stealing our electricity, stealing our jobs, stealing our spirits and, if the warnings of prominent doom-mongers are to be believed, possibly even stealing our future. Was…
