Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware has led to some customers feeling neglected, with channel partners complaining of lack of interest from the company. Broadcom’s focus on large enterprise customers and move to a subscription-only model has raised concerns among smaller companies. Some customers using VMware hypervisor on Nutanix are considering switching to Nutanix’s own hypervisor, AHV. The University of Canberra is one such customer that switched to Nutanix HCI platform before Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware. Nutanix has taken steps to expand its offerings, including a deal with Dell to offer Nutanix Cloud Platform on Dell PowerFlex software-defined storage and plans to support Cisco UCS servers to run AHV. Customers are exploring alternatives to VMware in light of these changes.
