Good morning, just back from a freezing but illuminating Stockholm, where a senior corporate lawyer told AL – and a room of more than 500 other GCs – that using AI in law firms is of no benefit to them.

That’s how the conversation went at the Pocketlaw – now Miramis – in-house conference, after discussing how legal teams are quickly leveraging AI capabilities, especially for routine work.

AL – But what about law firms? After all the press releases about law firms using AI, what do you as clients see coming back from the other direction?

GC – We get nothing. They haven’t changed and probably the same work will cost even more next year.

The reaction of those around this corporate lawyer (who works at a global company and AL does not identify him by name as he did not give permission to quote) was one of implicit approval. AL later spoke again with the same attorney.
