Warner Music signs deal with AI song generator Suno after settling legal dispute

Warner Music has signed a licensing deal with artificial intelligence song generator Suno after the company settled a copyright infringement lawsuit against the service a year ago

Warner, the world’s third-largest music company and home to acts such as Coldplay, Charli XCX and Ed Sheeran, is the first major record label to officially partner with the company.

Under their agreement, users will be allowed to create AI-generated songs on Suno through simple text prompts, using the voices, names and likenesses of the Warner acts that choose to use the service.

Robert Kyncl, chief executive of Warner Music Group, said the deal shows that artificial intelligence can be “pro-artistic” if allowed to “reflect the value of music.”
