Virtual private networks (VPNs) present additional challenges for some agencies as they increase remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some agencies had to make emergency acquisitions for more VPN Licensing and are now trying to segment their data as the technology offers more internet exposure than proponents of models like zero trust security would like. The infrastructure, not the cloud, remains the focus, as the agencies try Connect employees remotely network resources that may still be on site, and Zero trust security Architectures are preferable, said Dan Jacobs, director of cloud adoption and cybersecurity within the company General services management Competence centers.
