Leading British AI chip startup GraphCore has signed a major contract to support its AI hardware in data centers.
VMware’s Project Radium will support Graphcore systems as part of its hardware disaggregation initiative. This enables the pooling and sharing of resources over the primary data center network in virtualized, multi-tenant environments without increasing the complexity of the user or management software.
GraphCore in Bristol raised € 682 million from investors such as Dell, BMWi Ventures and Roberty Bosch Venture Capital.
The network-disaggregated architecture of GraphCore’s IPU-POD racks in conjunction with flexible resource management functions in Project Radium enables the training of very large models on a scale and the provision of models in reliable production environments for AI-based services.
