VMware has reversed its decision to end support for non-persistent removable storage as bootable media for its vSphere suite.
Virtzilla deprecated the feature in the release of vSphere 7 Update 3 in early 2021 and indicated in September that it will no longer be supported in future releases.
The company has now revised this position.
An updated knowledge base article from April 28 states: “VMware continues to support USB/SD cards as a boot device through the vSphere.Next product release, including the update releases. Both installations and upgrades are supported on USB/SD cards.”
