A retrospective report released this week by cybersecurity software provider VMWare Carbon Black found that 239.4 million cyberattacks were launched on its healthcare customers in 2020.
The company found an average of 816 attacks attempted per endpoint – an incredible 9,851% increase over 2019.
“In the midst of the pandemic, cybercriminals now have unlimited avenues of attack,” said Rick McElroy, lead cybersecurity strategist at VMware Carbon Black.
“The FBI, Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies have all warned of the rise in cyber attacks against health organizations,” he said.
