VMware announced a surprise for many IT watchers on May 12th Raghu Raghuram, a 17-year veteran of the Palo Alto, California-based IT giant, now serves as the new chief executive officer. He replaced the company’s long-time CEO, Pat Gelsingerwho worked wonders at VMware but took over Intel’s CEO job on February 15th.

Raghuram, COO of Cloud Services for the company and previously Executive Vice President and General Manager of VMware’s Software-Defined Data Center division, led the way in transforming its architectures and applications into cloud services and bringing them to market.
