Vivo today announces the V23 Pro and V23 5G, a pair of stylish phones equipped with mesmerizing selfie cameras, at CES 2022 today. Yes, that’s excuse enough for the large notches that grace the top fronts of these two phones.
“At vivo we continuously pursue the creation of mobile experiences that combine innovation, state-of-the-art capabilities and elegance. The latest V23 series offers a new era in camera performance for stunning selfies and portraits while wrapped in a sleek design that is fashionable yet varied with its unique color-changing surface. “ said Spark Ni, senior vice president and CMO of vivo.
Vivo V23 series design
The influence of the design language of the iPhone 12/13 has penetrated the design language of Vivo and the two new devices have distinctive flat frames. With a special so-called Fluorite AG coating, which ensures a velvety, fingerprint-resistant glass surface on the back and a curved display on the front, the Vivo V23 series are both proud of their appearance. And rightly so – they look pretty elegant with their fascinating combination of rough industrial design with classy looks.
The paintwork is also noteworthy – both the V23 Pro and the V23 5G have color-changing exterior gradients that change their hues or, as Vivo puts it, absorb depending on the light falling on the back of the phones “Warm, calming tones to cool, sharp tones”.
As mentioned earlier, both phones have large notches that penetrate the displays to facilitate the dual front cameras, but otherwise the Vivo V23 Pro and Vivo V23 5G are both quite slim and elegant: both are about 7mm thin and weigh in less than 180gr.
Vivo V23 series hardware
In terms of raw data, both devices come with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chips and are available with either 8 GB RAM / 128 GB storage or 12 GB RAM / 256 GB storage. However, the displays are different for both: the Vivo V23 Pro has a 6.56-inch FHD + HDR10-compatible AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, while the normal Vivo V23 has a 6.44-inch AMOLED display. Screen without HDR at 90 Hz still has refresh rate.
Battery size is another area where the two differ slightly: while both have a fast 44W charge, the Vivo V23 Pro has a 4,300 mAh battery, while the regular Vivo has a smaller 4,200 mAh Battery has. Charging at 44W will fully charge both phones in about 30 minutes, says Vivo.
Vivo V23 series camera
The fascinating thing about the new Vivo V23 Pro and Vivo V23 are, as already mentioned several times, their selfie cameras. Both phones have a 50-megapixel main selfie camera with dual autofocus and an ultra-wide 8-megapixel camera with a 105-degree field of view, as well as a dedicated dual-tone spotlight flash. The opt-in beautification mode is available as part of the selfie camera’s natural portrait feature.
The ultra-wide-angle camera can take super-wide-angle night portraits, while advanced AI algorithms ensure the enhancement of facial details. Another fascinating aspect of the Vivo V23 series is the 4K selfie video recording capabilities of the front cameras, which allows you to record 4K video at 30 and 60 fps. Another photography-related feature that Vivo seems to be very proud of is bokeh flare, and as the name suggests, it allows for exactly the amount of background blur you want.
As for the rear view cameras, Vivo has equipped both phones with triple cameras, with the Vivo V23 Pro having a higher-resolution 108MP main camera with Samsung ISOCELL. receives
HM2 sensor, while the normal Vivo V23 is equipped with a 64 MP unit. The Vivo V23 Pro’s camera sensor uses non-cell binning to output 12 MP photos and achieve much higher sensitivity in low light, which is also supported by Vivo’s Smart ISO function.
