Face masks are part of our daily lives today, but most of us use a simple cloth or disposable mask when venturing into the store. Razer revealed its version of a Smart Skin at CES in January . It was just called a prototype Project Hazel but now Hazel is becoming a reality.
As reported by Yahoo news Min-Liang Tan, CEO of Razer, confirmed in an interview that Project Hazel is now being launched. This promotion follows on from a commitment Razer made last year to manufacture and even sell face masks using existing manufacturing facilities them through vending machines in Singapore. Then the company started developing a “better mask” and developed the Hazel project.
“We thought this was a conceptual project and it will be relevant when the vaccines and everything are implemented. I think we have made a decision in the future and I can tell you now that we will continue to make this happen . And send the smart mask, “explained Tan. “We realized that despite the vaccines we heard, you need to remain masked as there is still the risk factor that you have to be incredibly careful even with a vaccination.”
Project Hazel is no ordinary face mask. N95 class medical respirators and smart pods are used to regulate airflow and filter out airborne germs. The fans, which are charged for a day, can be removed and charged in the supplied wireless fast charging box, which also serves as a charger a UV light box kill all germs.
Add to this the clear plastic that allows people to see when you are laughing or smiling. Razer VoiceAmp technology relies on built-in microphones to amplify and enhance your voice and interior lighting to illuminate the lower part of your face in the dark. And of course there is RGB lighting on the outside of the mask. The only thing missing is the release date and price, but it certainly won’t be cheap, especially when compared to cloth face masks.
