Victoria has announced it will become Australia’s capital for digital infrastructure, data capacity and the adoption of artificial intelligence.
The state has published a plan for the “responsible and ethical” development and deployment of AI. This move comes as the government recognizes the rapid spread of advanced and emerging technologies into workplaces, homes and schools.
The statement outlines how AI is rapidly transforming industries and institutions, and shows how this trend can also drive innovation, increase productivity, attract and facilitate investment, and spur economic growth across the state.
Economic Growth and Employment Minister Danny Pearson said the plan aims to establish Victoria as a national leader in AI development, deployment and infrastructure that is secure, trustworthy and supported by a skilled workforce.
