Veeam Data Platform now supports image-based, host-level, and agentless backups for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials software. General availability puts HPE’s offering on par with rivals such as VMware, Nutanix and Microsoft.
Organizations evaluating alternatives to VMware have had no shortage of options since the Broadcom acquisition changed the pricing landscape. HPE’s answer is HPE Morpheus VM Essentials, a KVM-based virtualization platform that became generally available in early 2025 as a direct alternative to vSphere, scalable to tens of thousands of virtual machines. Veeam now extends data protection, adopting Cohesity and Commvault, which also support the HPE solution.
