CARE, a global nonprofit organization, is utilizing artificial intelligence through Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to improve emergency preparedness in its country offices. By analyzing open-ended survey responses, CARE can assess readiness, identify areas for enhancement, and be better equipped to respond promptly to crises. The organization recognizes the increasing severity of global crises, such as food insecurity, inflation, and climate-driven disasters, with an estimated one in six people exposed to conflict by 2023. CARE emphasizes the disproportionate impact of crises on women, who are often at the forefront of response efforts. Through surveys of over 15,000 women in 15 countries, CARE found that 91% of women were actively involved in community responses, providing essential services and advocating for change to ensure community safety. The implementation of AI technology allows CARE to proactively address challenges and support communities in need.
