Cisco and the US Golf Association (USGA) moved to employ AI in a predictive role to improve event operations under an extended deal pitched as providing technology capable of meeting emerging needs for at least the next decade.
Operational elements span monitoring infrastructure and network equipment at events, crowd management and anticipating problems in advance. Cisco also mentioned preparing the USGA for growing device usage and future AI services.
The advances are covered by a multi-year agreement which builds on Cisco’s status as official technology partner for the golfing association since 2018.
USGA CCO Jon Padany said Cisco already provided “a technology foundation” on par with its needs to hold tournaments including US Open events for men and women.
The executive said the association has an eye on “the changing needs of our fans and customers”.
