Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SAP SE have announced an expanded strategic collaboration to leverage generative artificial intelligence (AI) in enterprise resource planning (ERP) experiences in the cloud. The partnership aims to make it easier for customers to adopt the RISE solution with SAP on AWS and improve the performance and efficiency of SAP workloads by incorporating generative AI across critical business applications.

The Generative AI hub in the SAP AI Core infrastructure now integrates with core models in Amazon Bedrock, such as the Anthropic Claude 3 model family and Amazon Titan, to provide customers with secure access to a variety of large language models (LLMs). This integration allows SAP customers to accelerate the adoption of generative AI and modernize key business processes based on SAP solutions, enhancing innovation and efficiency.

SAP is using AWS Graviton3 chips to support SAP HANA Cloud, delivering performance improvements, cost savings, and energy efficiency. The collaboration will continue with the next generation of Graviton4 for SAP HANA Cloud and additional SAP applications to further improve performance and efficiency. Additionally, SAP plans to use AWS Training and Inference chips to train and deploy future SAP Business AI offerings, speeding up development processes while maintaining accuracy and reliability.

The partnership between SAP and AWS enables customers to run RISE with SAP on AWS, leveraging next-generation Amazon EC2 High Memory U7i instances for improved performance, flexibility, and memory capacity. This offering supports memory-intensive applications like SAP S/4HANA Cloud as part of RISE with SAP, providing customers with the resources they need to support growing SAP HANA database requirements.

Amazon companies, including Project Kuiper, are already using SAP software on AWS to enhance supply chain and manufacturing operations. Project Kuiper is implementing RISE with SAP to support its satellite broadband network and close the digital divide by offering fast, affordable broadband to underserved areas. By leveraging SAP solutions on AWS, Project Kuiper can drive impactful transformation, accelerate business decisions, and improve overall performance and productivity.

Overall, the collaboration between AWS and SAP aims to empower businesses with innovative AI solutions, improved performance, and enhanced efficiency in running SAP workloads on the cloud. Through the integration of generative AI models and cutting-edge technology, customers can drive innovation, streamline manual processes, and achieve sustainable growth.
