Ubisoft, Bungie and others are working on Stadia Game Save Transfers – IGN

Ubisoft, Bungie and others are working on allowing players to be transferred Google Stadia saves.

After the unexpected Shutdown of Google StadiaDevelopers from across the industry are trying to help gamers by allowing them to transfer saves to other platforms.

“Although Stadia will shut down on January 18, 2023, we’re excited to announce that we’re working to bring the games you own on Stadia to PC via Ubisoft Connect,” Ubisoft said. “We will have more specific details to share at a later date as well as the impact for Ubisoft+ subscribers.”

Google Stadia unexpectedly announced yesterday that it will shut down on January 18, 2023. In addition, Google refunds all hardware and game purchases made through the service.

“We are grateful to the dedicated Stadia players who have been with us from the start,” Google said. “We will refund all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store, as well as game and add-on content purchases made through the Stadia Store.”

The video game streaming service hasn’t proved popular with gamers, but with gamers investing hundreds or even thousands of hours into their favorite games on the platform, the developers don’t want to let them down.

“We just found out about the closure of Stadia and have started discussions about the next steps for our players,” said Destiny 2 developer Bungie. “We will be announcing and sending information about Destiny 2 Stadia accounts once we have a plan of action.”

Hitman developer IO Interactive is also working on a solution for its players.

“To all our HITMAN fans on Google Stadia,” they said. “We heard you – we’re looking at ways to continue your HITMAN experience on other platforms.”

The developers’ quick response to this unexpected issue is certainly commendable, but will likely mean additional development time to implement a fix. Whether or not this will impact any of the upcoming updates or DLC remains to be seen.

Still, it’s a nice answer that could help Stadia players avoid wasting countless hours of gameplay in their favorite games.
