The Research and Oversight of AI in Courts Act of 2026 would create oversight mechanisms for these technologies used in court proceedings
Reston, VA, March 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the nation’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners and legal videographers, today announced that U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman of Wyoming and U.S. Senators Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Peter Welch of Vermont have introduced the ‘AI in Courts Research and Oversight Act of 2026“, a bipartisan, bicameral bill supported by the association that would establish comprehensive oversight mechanisms for artificial intelligence (AI) and automatic speech recognition (ASR) technologies used in litigation.
