Intel’s Moon Lake CPUs, part of the Lunar Lake series, have begun mass production at TSMC using the N3B advanced process node. These chips are expected to be featured in the first laptops set to release in the third quarter of 2024. The Lunar Lake CPUs will be Intel’s most advanced system-on-chip (SOC) to date, featuring multiple tiles in a single package and in-package memory solutions. Intel plans to convert both new and old NB platforms in the latter half of the year, with a launch of the Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake series by the end of the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

According to reports from DigiTimes, Intel has secured the majority of orders for TSMC’s 3nm process node, ahead of competitors such as AMD, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm. The Arrow Lake “Core Ultra 200” CPU is also set to use TSMC’s process technologies, with the iGPU tile for both Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake leveraging TSMC compute nodes. The CPUs in the Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake series will share similar compute tile features, including Lion Cove P-Cores and Skymont E-Cores, but will differ in their iGPU and I/O/SOC tiles with variations in core architectures and technologies.

The upcoming laptops featuring the Lunar Lake CPUs are expected to ship by the third quarter of 2024, marking the first devices from Intel to support Microsoft Copilot+. On the other hand, Arrow Lake CPUs are slated to debut in the desktop segment initially, with reports suggesting an October launch, while the mainstream and high-end laptop lineup is expected to follow in early 2025.
